Hello, and welcome to my Research Lab.
I'm so glad you stopped by.
If you are interested in WWI history at all, then maybe you can help me.
(Please be patient while the pictures load, I think they're worth it!)
I think history is really great and I love to go to auctions and estate sales in my area and collect neat old items, especially documents, postcards and photos. I purchased three old WWI photographs of German Army Officers at such an estate sale not far from where I live. They were in a box full of other old literature, some photo postcards also from WWI, a receipt for a brand new 1924 Model T Ford, a State of Indiana Teacher's License from 1919, some cancelled stock certificates, etc.
I'm hoping to find someone that can help me identify the men pictured in the photographs, scans of which are below. I did some research myself on the World-Wide-Web, and I think I may have narrowed it down some. Can anyone tell me if my guesses are right?
I'm pretty sure that all three of these were taken the same day, sometime between 1914 and 1916 in Germany. It appears that maybe there was an inspection, or a ceremony of some kind going on. Everyone appears to have all their decorations on and their spiked helmets, most of the higher ranking officers are carrying their swords.

I THINK the subject of the day's photo
shoot was German General Erich Ludendorff,
seen here second from the right, speaking to the man with his back to the camera.
I'm PRETTY SURE that the man standing to his right (second from the left) is MAYBE Field
Marshal Paul von Hindenburg, who later become President
of Germany until his death in 1934. Please email me with any clues you may have. Thanks! |

Here, it appears that the troops are being
inspected. I BELIEVE that to be General Ludendorff(?) in
the lead, with Field Marshall Hindenburg(?) close behind
with an aide. Please email me with any clues you may have. Thanks! |

Is this a ceremony in progress? I can't tell what it
is that the one officer is giving to
General Ludendorff(?). Maybe they are presenting a medal to a
soldier, or promoting someone. There seems to be a few more high ranking officers in the background and at least four different
kinds of uniforms. Please email me with any clues you may have. Thanks! |
Any help that I can get in identifying any of
these men, or narrowing down the time frame, help in identifying uniforms and ranks, anything,
would be greatly appreciated.
Please email me with any clues you may have.
Thanks!
